Pilates class descriptions

All classes are varied week to week and often include the use of small equipment such as overballs, small massage balls, foam rollers, magic circles, handheld weights, and resistance bands. The use of these enable us to both facilitate and challenge movement.

All equipment is provided.

'IMPROVERS'

A class designed for those individuals with a basic understanding of the Pilates technique, looking for a slightly slower paced, more gentle class, whether this be due to age, injury, or personal preference. Focus will be on providing a gentle, balanced workout and include exercises that promote balance and flexibility/stability of the spine and peripheral joints.

'MIXED ABILITIES'

A class ideal for those with a sound understanding of the Pilates technique, who wish to refine their skills and broaden their exercise repertoire up to an intermediate level.

'PILATES FOR BONE HEALTH'

This class is designed for the over 60s who would like to focus on exercises that promote bone health or for those individuals with a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis. We explore the many factors that affect bone health and ways to promote increased bone density. Using the recommended guidelines from the Royal Osteoporosis Society we perform Pilates exercises using our own body weight, hand-held weights, and resistance bands, in addition to focusing on exercises that promote good posture, balance, and strength.

'PILATES FOR MEN'

This class is for men with some previous Pilates experience, who wish to refine their skills and broaden their exercise repertoire up to an intermediate level.
